Cloud Platform Selection

Hi All

I'm writing this blog to help you guys to clear the confusion of selecting the cloud platform for your DevOps/Cloud engineer journey .

I'm your friend Karan currently working as a Corporate majdoor 😜 for almost 2 years , jokes apart lets start our new blog with lots of research on currently hot topic for the selection of Cloud to pursue.

There are 3 major cloud platform giants

1. AWS ( Amazon Web Services)
2. Microsoft Azure
3. GCP (Google Cloud Platform)

Before beginning or shall i say before becoming biased on platform lets deep down into about their services and and scale in which they are expended.

To select or choose any cloud platform we need to keep certain things in mind which are below :

• How much market does that cloud covered
• In 5-10 years of time how much new jobs/opportunities will be come
• How much changes done in last 5 years in that specific cloud
• How much user friendly that cloud platform is for the customers

As we just got to know about what we need to keep in mind before selecting the cloud to learn and excel in it we now need to figure it out certain things about ourself

• What is the goal i want to achieve
• what is my field of interest
• How much work & time i can put into it to get this mastered

Now its time to tell you what are the above cloud services is for and what things it match with the above 3 questions

A. AWS - AWS stands for 😁do you guys think i still write like a traditional way, No-ways 😜. Let come to the points that you should know

• AWS is very user friendly Cloud platform.
• AWS does made a heavy changed in its interface in last 5 years.
• A very easy and detailed platform choose to learn or build the foundation for the cloud platform.
• A sort of heavy demand in market for AWS architect roles (18% of market covered).

Main purpose to learn this is for the Infrastructure automation /Serverless or Scalable Application for DevOps it is must to learn

B. Microsoft Azure - So the name followed by Azure doesn't require any introduction , if you are in corporate you are aware of this name Microsoft Teams 😅 so lets break down if for you

• Azure is bit complicated to learn
• Azure made a huge changed in last few years like Active directory to Entra ID & its changed continuously
• Heavy recommended if you want to pursue for the Cloud engineer role.
• Undoubtedly, this cloud platform is in tremendous demand.
• Almost 21% covered for this in perspective of jobs and usage in market.

Main Purpose to learn this if you want to learn about complete architecture of the Microsoft like for the Windows Server or Virtualization

C. GCP - Google Cloud platform is also popular and as the name includes Google its a very big name in market without it even i shouldn't able to post this 😅 but let me break down it for you

• GCP is very complex Cloud platform.
• Required to learn if you want to excel the cloud topics to advance level.
• Mostly demands for the people who has a very deep interest in development.
• Require to build something in Cloud or Develop something new.
• Not much demand in market but essential for the Advance topics.

Main Purpose of it if you want to learn Data engineering and analytics or AI & Machine learning or pursue in AI which is a very interesting topic and might be my next blog is around AI or you can choose it for Big Data analytics

So here we are came to the end of this blog but before ending just wanted to say that you can choose anyone of it but keep stick to it and enjoy while learning . Don't compete with others or learn to impress or copy someone, learn by heart and grow with others
